About Trans Masc Studies
Trans Masc Studies is a project by Ellis Jackson Kroese (they/them), an artist and writer based in Manchester, UK. The project explores and shares the history of masculine-leaning gender diverse people that came before us.
Since 2018, Trans Masc Studies has covered hundreds of stories of transgressive masculinity; exhibited and spoken across the UK and internationally; produced a number of self-published zines; reached hundreds of thousands of people across the globe; and helped our community raise close to £20,000 for Palestinians in need.
This work is fuelled by a personal need to engage with our transcestors. That the community shares in this interest creates a wonderful feeling of connection that transcends time and space. Our history becomes a place of belonging, a home, a comfort. Our transcestors are our family. We have always been here.
